Smart Mongolian Keyboard Extension Privacy Policy

This page describes how the MONGOL WORLD Smart Mongolian Keyboard browser extension handles data.

Last updated: 9 August 2026. This policy reflects extension version 2.3.0.

Local-first privacy model

  • Typed text is processed locally in the browser.
  • Typed text is not sent to MONGOL WORLD servers.
  • Typed text and browsing history are not stored by the extension.
  • No analytics are used by the extension.
  • No ads or advertising tracking are used by the extension.

Data processed locally

  • The extension reads only the active supported editable field while the user is typing or choosing a candidate.
  • Typed text is processed locally to map physical keys and calculate candidate forms.
  • Supported fields include textarea, ordinary text and search inputs, contenteditable, and contenteditable="plaintext-only" areas.
  • Password, file, disabled, readonly, and unsupported fields are ignored. Physical key conversion is also disabled in email, URL, and telephone inputs.

Data sent to servers

  • Typed text, candidate text, and page content are not sent to MONGOL WORLD servers or third parties.
  • The extension does not send usage analytics to any server.
  • The extension contains no advertising or tracking code.

Data sharing and sale

  • The extension does not sell user data.
  • The extension does not transfer typed text to third parties.
  • Typed text is not used for advertising, credit, or lending decisions.

User control

  • Users can independently disable Mongolian physical typing and the smart candidate panel.
  • Users can revoke access with Remove current website or Remove optional website access in the extension popup.
  • Users can remove the extension from the browser at any time.

Data stored locally

The extension stores two boolean settings with chrome.storage.local:

mwTextKeyboardEnabled: smart candidate panel enabled or disabled.

mwMongolTypingEnabled: Mongolian physical keyboard mode enabled or disabled.

These settings remain in the user's browser. The extension does not store typed text or browsing history.

Website permissions are managed by Chrome and are not copied into a MONGOL WORLD account or server.

Website access

The production package always supports:

https://text.mongol.world/*

Access to other HTTP or HTTPS websites is optional. The user must explicitly choose Enable current website or Enable all websites in the extension popup.

Optional access can be removed with Remove current website or Remove optional website access from the same popup at any time. It is not granted automatically during installation or update.

The extension cannot run on browser-internal pages, the Chrome Web Store, password fields, or the browser address bar.

Permission explanations

storage

Stores only the two local enable or disable settings described on this page.

activeTab

Provides temporary access after the user opens the extension popup, so it can identify the current website and offer a site-specific access choice. It does not grant persistent access by itself.

scripting

Loads the already-packaged keyboard content script only on websites for which the user has granted optional access.

https://*/* and http://*/* (optional)

Defines the maximum website range the user may choose at runtime. This access is not automatically granted during installation or update.
